Music is an essential part of the writing process. It’s also a virtual equivalent of a cheat-code when it comes to getting in the zone for books. Certain songs can reflect certain moods and lyrics can relate to certain characters. I definitely utilized music when it came down to writing my new book, Burning in a Memory. I use tunes to quickly channel feelings and can hit replay as many times as I need.  While Spotify mood playlists or Genius suggestions makes things easier, I usually like to pick out my own playlist.
So because music is so important, I mocked up a short playlist of songs that I relate to with Burning in a Memory (and their youtube links).

·         Jenny was a Friend of Mine- The Killers
o   Fun fact: This song has the line “I know what you’re doing here” which inspires one of the main conflicts in the book.
·         My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark- Fall Out Boy
·         Dance With the Devil – Breaking Benjamin
·         Time is Running Out- Muse
·         Bulletproof- La Roux
·         Airplanes- B.o.B.
·         Titanium (feat. Sia)- David Guetta

I’d love to hear from the people who read Burning in the Memory as to whether or not they follow the sound track. Especially if they believe there are any more fitting songs out there!

The best part about associating music with books is the ability to almost instantly relive the story over and over again. It’s a habit that should be done with every loved book—for writers and readers alike!

She was on holiday. He was tricked into returning.
Neither of them wanted to be there, but neither could avoid it.

Amy wants to be back under the sun in Portugal. However, when her suggestion is overruled in favour of a skiing holiday, even she can’t turn it down. What she couldn’t have predicted is that the holiday could make her break the one, and only, rule she has: not to get into a serious relationship again.

When Amy first sees Luke, she knows something is wrong. He’s struggling to cope with everything and her need to help people makes him the perfect distraction from the cold. He hasn’t been to the Alps in five years and he swore to never ski again. But as his defences are broken by Amy’s persistence, the winter paradise begins to reawaken his desires.

However, with constant flashbacks triggering his anxiety, he’s torn, battling conflicting emotions as he becomes increasingly captivated by Amy. She has a rule though. She didn’t go on holiday to fall for someone and the last thing she needs is to ignore her own advice. Whether or not she can move past her insecurities will depend on whether Luke can face his biggest fear.

Winter Angel is a standalone, young adult romance novella, but is the second book in the Seasons of Change series.

Season of Change #2 Information

About a week a go, I revealed the title of my second novella and whose story it was going to follow. However, I just realised I never posted about it here.

So... book two in the Seasons of Change Standalone series is going to be called:

Winter Angel

The book is going to follow Amy's story (Jenna's best friend from Summer Demons) but that is all I'm revealing now. Everything to do with the book is finished but I like being secretive--I feel special that only I've seen the cover and blurb lol! :-)

Anyway, the book is up on Goodreads so please add it to your shelves everyone!

Winter Angel (Seasons of Change, #2)

I've also added Deadly to Lie (Elemental Killers #3).

Deadly to Lie (Elemental Killers, #3)

Keep checking back as I'll have a cover/blurb reveal for you all soon.

Happy Reading,

Requesting Reviews ~ Tips & Advice For Authors

alt tag goes here

As part of the Romance Festival going on this weekend, bloggers are giving tips to authors. So, being both a blogger who reviews novels and an author, I decided to sign up to take part as I get an insight into both worlds. My blogs have been active for a little over 2 years and I have been writing novels since I was 14 so I have seen a lot and have made many contacts over the years with bloggers. By doing both it's made me understand why certain things are annoying, why authors do it and what to avoid.

So, as part of the festival, here are my experiences to help you contact bloggers.

When contacting bloggers, these are the four points I'd consider most important and I think if you follow them, you can't go far wrong.

Beta Readers Wanted

Hi everyone!

At the end of the month I will be looking beta readers to give feedback on my upcoming novel so I've set up a sign up form for anyone who would like to be considered.

There are 2 groups on the form you can sign up for: The first group will be beta readers to provide feedback on the novel. The second group is for proof readers who will receive a later copy of the book after it has been edited for the final time and only comment if they spot a mistake.  You can choose either group below but beta readers are preferred and will have priority on copies (which are limited).

Each selected reader will receive a digital version of the manuscript to read and provide the desired feedback from. I would love to provide copies to everyone but can't unfortunately, so it may be that not everyone receive a copy.

The novel I am going to be releasing falls under the genres: Action & Adventure, Suspense, Urban Fantasy and is aimed at upper young-adults. As a warning, there is some strong language and violence contained in the book so please only sign up if you do not mind that. There is also more info on the form about the book.

If you're interested, you can sign up HERE via Google Docs.

Happy Reading,
